What is a game counter?

A game counter keeps track of the numbers a game needs that are not the score: rounds played, lives left, turns taken, cards drawn. In Tapsle each one gets its own counter with a colour, so every player can see their number at a glance.

  • One counter per player or per thing
  • Lives that count down with minus
  • A target for the last round
  • Colours so players find theirs
Your game, in Tapsle

Every player, every number, one screen.

Give each player a counter in their colour. Count lives down with minus, rounds up with plus, and set a target so Tapsle tells you when the game is over.

Counting down as well as up

Lives, health and cards in hand go down. Set the starting number with Set value, then tap minus each time you lose one. A counter never goes below zero, and a minimum target stops it at any floor you choose.

Game night on one screen

Put every counter for the game in one group, such as “Game night”, and lay the phone on the table. Lock all when you pause, so a stray tap never changes a number.

Game counter questions

Can I count lives down instead of up?

Yes. Set the starting number with Set value and tap minus each time a life is lost. It never goes below zero.

Can every player have their own counter?

Yes. Add a counter for each player with their own name and colour. There is no limit on counters.

What is the difference from the score counter?

The score counter is built for points per team. The game counter is for everything else a game needs: rounds, lives, turns and cards.

Is Tapsle free?

Yes. Unlimited counters, targets, steps, notes, lock, focus mode, pop out and export are free, with no account. Free includes up to 5 groups and 1 counter on a timer. Tapsle Plus adds sync, backups, longer history, shared counters and integrations, for $2.99 a month or $25.99 a year.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once Tapsle has loaded, counting keeps working with no connection, and you can install it on your phone or computer like an app. Your counts are saved on your device as you go.

Can I export my counters?

Yes, free. Export saves every counter to one file, and Import brings them back on any device. Your counts belong to you.

Can I keep the counter on screen while I work?

Yes, on Chrome and Edge on a computer. Choose Pop out and the counter floats above your other windows, with +1 and −1 inside it, so you can count while you read, watch or type. Phones and Safari do not support this, so the button only appears where it works.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your counters stay on your device. There is no account, and nothing is sent to us unless you turn on sync with Tapsle Plus.

What is the difference between Free and Plus?

Free is the counter: unlimited counters, up to 5 groups, 1 timer counter, targets, offline use, export and 7 days of history. Plus is memory: sync across up to 5 devices, nightly backups, 60 days of history with charts, shared counter links, unlimited groups and timers, and integrations. Cancelling Plus never removes a counter.
