What is a boxing timer?

A boxing timer runs rounds and rest periods so you can train like a fight: usually 3 minutes of work and 1 minute of rest. In Tapsle, set the timer to add one every 4 minutes with a target of 12. Each sound starts a round, the countdown shows when the minute of rest begins, and the Bell plays at the end.

  • Rounds of any length
  • A sound at the start of each round
  • The countdown shows your rest
  • Bell at the final round
Timer mode, in Tapsle

Any counter becomes a boxing timer.

Open a counter’s settings, switch Counting to Timer and set the schedule. Tapsle adds to the count on every interval, plays your sound, and stops at the target. Pause from the card whenever you need to.

Pro and amateur rounds

Pro boxing uses 3 minute rounds with 1 minute rest. Amateur bouts often use 3 rounds of 3 minutes, and many gyms train in 2 minute rounds. Set the interval to round plus rest, and the target to the number of rounds.

Muay thai, MMA and circuits

Muay thai rounds are often 3 minutes, MMA rounds 5. For a circuit of pads, bag and skipping, keep one counter per station and run them in turn. The count always shows the round you are on.

Boxing timer questions

How do I set 3 minute rounds with 1 minute rest?

Set the timer to add one every 4 minutes and choose how many rounds as the target. Each sound starts a round. Rest when the countdown shows 1:00.

Can it ring a bell?

Yes. Choose Bell as the target sound for the final round, and turn on Tap sound in Preferences for a sound at the start of each round.

Can I use it for muay thai or MMA?

Yes. Set the interval to your round plus rest, such as 6 minutes for 5 minute MMA rounds with 1 minute rest.

Is Tapsle free?

Yes. Unlimited counters, targets, steps, notes, lock, focus mode, pop out and export are free, with no account. Free includes up to 5 groups and 1 counter on a timer. Tapsle Plus adds sync, backups, longer history, shared counters and integrations, for $2.99 a month or $25.99 a year.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once Tapsle has loaded, counting keeps working with no connection, and you can install it on your phone or computer like an app. Your counts are saved on your device as you go.

Can I export my counters?

Yes, free. Export saves every counter to one file, and Import brings them back on any device. Your counts belong to you.

Can I keep the timer on screen while I train?

Yes, on Chrome and Edge on a computer. Choose Pop out and the boxing timer floats above your training video, still counting rounds. Phones and Safari do not support this, so the button only appears where it works.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your counters stay on your device. There is no account, and nothing is sent to us unless you turn on sync with Tapsle Plus.

What is the difference between Free and Plus?

Free is the counter: unlimited counters, up to 5 groups, 1 timer counter, targets, offline use, export and 7 days of history. Plus is memory: sync across up to 5 devices, nightly backups, 60 days of history with charts, shared counter links, unlimited groups and timers, and integrations. Cancelling Plus never removes a counter.

Gloves on. We will ring the bell.

Free, no account, and every round is counted.
