What is a meditation timer?

A meditation timer ends a sitting with a sound so you do not have to open your eyes to check the time. Many also mark intervals within the sit. In Tapsle, the timer adds one and sounds at every interval, and a different sound plays when you reach the target.

  • Interval bells, 1 to 60 minutes
  • A different sound at the end
  • No buttons in focus mode
  • Nothing to sign up for
Timer mode, in Tapsle

Any counter becomes a meditation timer.

Open a counter’s settings, switch Counting to Timer and set the schedule. Tapsle adds to the count on every interval, plays your sound, and stops at the target. Pause from the card whenever you need to.

How to use Tapsle as a meditation timer

  1. 1
Pick a sitMorning sit, Breathing, Body scan or Walking, or a blank counter.
  2. 2
Set the interval bellIn the counter settings choose Timer and set how often, for example add 1 every 5 minutes.
  3. 3
Close your eyesPut the phone down. Tapsle sounds softly at each interval and adds one.
  4. 4
End with a different soundSet a target, like 4 intervals for 20 minutes, and choose Chime or Bell for the end.

Interval bells without looking

A single bell at the end can feel abrupt, and checking the time breaks the sit. A soft sound every 5 minutes tells you where you are without opening your eyes, and the count shows how many intervals have passed.

A daily practice, counted

Keep one counter for the sit and a habit counter for the days you sat. Plus keeps 60 days of history, so you can see how often you practised this month without keeping a journal.

Meditation timer or a phone alarm?

An alarm goes off once, loudly. A meditation timer marks the time softly and ends differently.

Meditation timer questions

Can I use a gentle sound?

Yes. Turn on Tap sound in Preferences for the interval, and pick a target sound such as Chime or Bell for the end of the sit. Keep the phone volume low for a softer bell.

Will the screen stay on?

Turn on Keep screen awake in Preferences and Tapsle holds the screen on in focus mode where the browser allows it. You can also let the screen sleep, since the timer keeps its schedule.

Is there a guided voice?

No. Tapsle marks the time and stays quiet otherwise. Use it alongside a teacher, a recording or on your own.

Is Tapsle free?

Yes. Unlimited counters, targets, steps, notes, lock, focus mode, pop out and export are free, with no account. Free includes up to 5 groups and 1 counter on a timer. Tapsle Plus adds sync, backups, longer history, shared counters and integrations, for $2.99 a month or $25.99 a year.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once Tapsle has loaded, counting keeps working with no connection, and you can install it on your phone or computer like an app. Your counts are saved on your device as you go.

Can I export my counters?

Yes, free. Export saves every counter to one file, and Import brings them back on any device. Your counts belong to you.

Can I keep the timer on screen while I work?

Yes, on Chrome and Edge on a computer. Choose Pop out for a short desk meditation and the timer floats above your other windows. Phones and Safari do not support this, so the button only appears where it works.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your counters stay on your device. There is no account, and nothing is sent to us unless you turn on sync with Tapsle Plus.

What is the difference between Free and Plus?

Free is the counter: unlimited counters, up to 5 groups, 1 timer counter, targets, offline use, export and 7 days of history. Plus is memory: sync across up to 5 devices, nightly backups, 60 days of history with charts, shared counter links, unlimited groups and timers, and integrations. Cancelling Plus never removes a counter.

Sit down. We will keep time.

Free, no account, and every interval is counted.
